Joan's Legacy invites grant applications for institutional research that studies lung cancer.

The Foundation is particularly interested in the genetic basis and biology of bronchioalveolar carcinoma as well as novel therapeutic approaches for the treatment of this disease.

This funding is intended primarily as seed money for promising new work. It is not for supporting research where funding has either lapsed or has been previously disapproved. Preference will be given to applications where indirect costs are minimal or nonexistent.

The deadline for the next funding cycle will be May 15, 2008. The length of the portion of the application dealing with project description is at the discretion of the applicant. Applications are subject to peer-review by the Medical Committee of Joan’s Legacy. Grants are awarded for one or two years up to $50,000 per year ($100,000 maximum). Funding for promising research may be extended further at the discretion of the Medical Committee.
