Joan's Legacy to Host Benefit

Joan's Legacy: The Joan Scarangello Foundation to Conquer Lung Cancer will host the annual "Strolling Supper with Blues and News" benefiting lung cancer research on Thursday, November 8, 2007 at 6:30-9:30 p.m at The Allen Room and Atrium of Frederick P. Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Network news anchors Tom Brokaw, Barbara Waiters and Brian Williams will be Honorary Chairmen and the night will commemorate Lung Cancer Awareness Month in New York City, with a strolling supper, gourmet wine and spirits and a special silent auction.

Grammy-Award winning Blues artist Delbert McClinton and Friends will perform, and dozens of "once-in-a-lifetime" prizes will be available at the silent auction.

Prizes include tickets to the star-studded Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in Los Angeles, impossible-to-get table reservations at Rao's in New York; a set visit to Steve Carell's "Office" on the hit sitcom; Owner's Soars for the 2008 Super Bowl; a surfboard and private surfing lessons in the Hamptons; a sporty Vespa scooter in the color of your choice; guitars signed by such superstars as Bon Jovi and Sheryl Crow; and incredible trips, such as a weekend in the California wine country.

Joan's Legacy is named for Joan Scarangello, a writer and non-smoker who died in 2001 at age 47 after a valiant nine-month fight with lung cancer. Joan's Legacy is committed to fighting lung cancer by funding innovative research and focusing greater attention on the world's leading cancer killer.

Funding more than $3,000,000 in new and cutting-edge research in just five years, Joan's Legacy has become the "venture capital" source for groundbreaking lung cancer research.

Lung cancer is the number one cancer killer in the United States, taking more than 164,000 lives each year. Yet lung cancer receives less research funding than almost any other cancer, making the work of Joan's Legacy even more compelling.

Tickets for the 2007 "Strolling Supper with Blues and News" start at $250.
For more information about Joan's Legacy and lung cancer, to view and place bids on silent auction prizes or to purchase tickets for the benefit, please call 212-627-5500 or visit www.joanslegacy.org.
