Brokaw and Williams Chair Party on November 7th
To Raise Research Funds For Nation’s Leading Cancer
Killer
(New York, NY – September 19, 2006) Network news
anchors Tom Brokaw, Barbara Walters and Brian Williams
will be honorary chairmen of the 2006 “Strolling
Supper with Blues and News”, benefiting lung cancer
research on November 7th, 2006. The event will take
place at The Allen Room of Frederick P. Rose Hall, Home
of Jazz at Lincoln Center and will feature a live performance
and a special silent auction. Hosted by Joan’s
Legacy: The Joan Scarangello Foundation to Conquer Lung
Cancer, the night will commemorate Lung Cancer Awareness
Month in New York City.
Grammy-Award winning Blues
artist Delbert McClinton is set to perform. Another
highlight of the evening is a silent auction featuring
dozens of “once-in-a-lifetime” prizes, such
as impossible-to-get table reservations at Rao’s
in New York; a set visit with the cast of NBC’s
“Scrubs” in Hollywood; tickets to an upcoming
Super Bowl; a basketball signed by “Coach K”,
famous coach of the Duke University men's basketball
team and a chance to cheer his team at a 2007 Duke vs.
Gonzaga game; house seats and a backstage visit with
the cast of Broadway hit “Jersey Boys”;
and many more.
Joan’s Legacy is named
for Joan Scarangello, a writer and non-smoker who died
in 2001 at age 47 after a valiant nine-month fight with
lung cancer. Joan’s Legacy is committed to fighting
lung cancer by funding innovative research and focusing
greater attention on the world’s leading cancer
killer. Funding more than $2,400,000 in new and cutting-edge
research in just four years, Joan’s Legacy is
fast becoming the “venture capital” source
for ground-breaking lung cancer research.
Lung cancer is the number
one cancer killer in the United States, taking more
than 160,000 lives each year. Yet lung cancer receives
less research funding than almost any other cancer,
making the work of Joan’s Legacy even more compelling.

benefit, view and place bids on silent auction lots,
