Laura Geller Makeup Unveils Eye Brow Marker and
“Arch Angel” Relationship with Joan’s Legacy Lung Cancer Foundation

Three years ago, while applying makeup to a friend who’d lost all her hair during chemotherapy, makeup artist and entrepreneur Laura Geller became determined to create a product that would fill out and define eyebrows naturally, without the smudging or melting of traditional brow pencils. This month, after years of work with European art tool manufacturer Faber-Castell, Laura Geller unveiled a long-lasting, easy-to-apply brow “marker” that will allow women with sparse or undefined brows to easily create a balanced, proportionate and polished look.

Since the inspiration for the product -- Laura Geller’s Brow Marker – came from a cancer patient, Laura Geller announced that a portion of the proceeds of the Brow Marker will be donated to Joan’s Legacy: The Joan Scarangello Foundation to Conquer Lung Cancer.

“When I learned that lung cancer kills more women than any other cancer, yet its research is terribly under-funded, I felt I should join Joan’s Legacy in its work to find new treatments and a cure for this deadly disease,” Ms. Geller said. “I am delighted that our newest product – something that every woman will value and use – will make a difference in the fight against lung cancer.”

Available in two highly-wearable shades that work for all hair colors and skin tones, Laura Geller’s Brow Marker is a long-lasting, temporary brow product that is effortlessly applied with a one-of-a-kind “marker-inspired” applicator. The soft-tipped “marker” makes it easy to apply while drying quickly and lasting all day. Easily removed with soap and water, it can be used to create any brow shape or size in addition to serving as a base to increase brow makeup’s staying power.

“The inspiration for the Brow Marker came from working on the beautiful face of a friend who’d lost all her hair, but the end-product is designed to work for every woman – and just about every woman can benefit from perfectly groomed eyebrows,” Ms. Geller said.

“Laura Geller is our ‘arch angel,’” said Susan C. Mantel, Executive Director of Joan’s Legacy, the leading private source of funding for innovative lung cancer research in the United States. “Through her generosity, creativity and talent, we will fund more research and shine a bigger spotlight on the cancer that kills more women each year than breast, uterine and ovarian cancers combined.”

Lung cancer kills more than 160,000 Americans each year – 71,000 women and over 20,000 never-smokers. The disease receives less federal research funding than most other cancers ($1,630 per death compared with $21,704 per death for breast cancer), and none of the $246 Billion Master Tobacco Settlement money has been spent on lung cancer research.

“Laura Geller Makeup is among the first major corporations to dedicate her formidable retail power to the lung cancer cause, and we are honored for her partnership with Joan’s Legacy,” Ms. Mantel said. “So many lung cancer patients feel isolated by the lack of attention to, and options for diagnosing and treating, their disease. Laura Geller gives patients and their families hope for both growing financial support to research solutions for this devastating disease, and thoughtful products that will help them through to remission or recovery.”
